DAILY PRAYER
During homeroom at the start of each school day and before the start of 8th Period Class, at the end of the school day - Little Flower pauses for communal prayer. Prayer is essential to our academic, moral, emotional, and spiritual development. When prayer is being offered everyone will stand in silence in respect for these sacred moments of grace. If someone is in the hallway when prayer is offered, they must stand and remain where they are in reverent silence until the conclusion of the prayer (and the Pledge of Allegiance).
Morning Prayer is offered for the school community at 8:00 each morning. These prayers unite us as a community and is an acknowledgment of our need for God to strengthen us and sustain us throughout each day. Twice each week, our Homeroom morning prayer includes prayers to request intercession from our Patron - Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. We pray her Novena Rose Prayer, and on Friday we pray the Daily Offering.
St. Francis’ Peace Prayer is prayed at the beginning of 8th period:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday
The Blessed Sacrament is present on the Altar in Chapel, for private or group periods of Adoration, every Friday from 1st through 8th period.
Retreats:
An annual retreat is a mandatory component of Catholic Education. The Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman Classes each has a designated off-campus retreat day at a local shrine or retreat center. Parent/guardian permission is required for students to be taken off-campus for retreats.
Spiritual Organizations:
National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) Pilgrims
The Little Flower students who attend NCYC are not tourists, but Pilgrims. They represent Little Flower as spiritual ambassadors and share insights with their schoolmates that enrich our liturgies - especially Class Retreats - and expand our Christian Service commitments.Liturgical Friends - Ministry Group
The Liturgical Friends are servant leaders: altar servers, readers, and active participants at our school liturgies. Previous experience as an altar server is helpful but not required. The Liturgical Friends assist at our Community Masses which are celebrated in the school Auditorium.
