2025 Season HighlightsLittle Flower Outdoor Track Season Caps Off Historic Year of Success and Record-Breaking Performances
Coming off the heels of an electrifying indoor season that saw the Little Flower track team finish just shy of second place—missing the mark by less than two points to claim third overall in the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) Indoor Championship—the young ladies set their sights even higher as they transitioned into the outdoor season. Determined to build on their momentum, the team dove headfirst into competition, and what followed was one of the most successful outdoor seasons in school history.
The season opener at the Upper Darby Relays immediately set the tone for what would become a record-breaking campaign. Jordyn Girmscheid made her mark by claiming the school record in the Triple Jump, a feat made all the more impressive as she would go on to break her own record multiple times throughout the season. Not to be outdone, the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) squad—featuring Eva Szczesny, Skye Sargent-Thomas, Athena Blome, and Cara Mott—shattered the DMR school record that had stood unchallenged since 2019.
That same meet also saw yet another record fall as the 4x200-meter relay team of Jordyn Girmscheid, Isabella Clark, Denim Fenwick, and Aislin Slook stormed to the finish and etched their names into Little Flower history by setting a new school standard in the event.
The team carried that energy into the heart of the PCL regular season, compiling a 2–1 record in league meets. Even in their lone non-victorious outing, the team held strong with a second-place finish, a testament to their consistency and competitive drive.
More records tumbled as the season progressed. Isabella Clark sprinted her way to a new school record in the 400-meter dash, showcasing not only speed but a fierce will to improve. The 4x400 relay team of Clark, Sargent-Thomas, Blome, and Maia Bizzell also added their names to the record books, closing out races with grit and grace that became a hallmark of this team’s identity.
The team’s efforts culminated in a strong showing at the District 12 Championships, where they finished 4th overall. One of the standout performances of the day came from the 4x800-meter relay team—featuring Cara Mott, Athena Blome, Skye Sargent-Thomas, and Eva Szczesny—who raced their way to a second-place finish and, more importantly, qualified to compete at the PIAA State Championships, the pinnacle of high school track competition in Pennsylvania.
Little Flower’s 2024 outdoor track season was not just about wins and records—it was about setting a new standard, building a culture of excellence, and proving that with determination and teamwork, greatness is within reach. With a talented roster and a foundation of success, the future looks bright for this rising powerhouse.
